Evansino Declares for House of Representatives, Pledges People-Centered Leadership for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo
A massive turnout was recorded on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Eziama Ntighauzor in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State as businessman, evangelist, philanthropist, and founder of the EVANSINO Humanitarian Foundation, Ambassador Emmanuel Josiah, formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency under the Labour Party.
The declaration event drew thousands of supporters, party stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups, and political associates from across the three local government areas, turning the gathering into a major political show of strength.
Speaking during his declaration, Josiah described his decision to enter the race as a response to the lived experiences of ordinary people in the constituency. He reflected on his personal background of hardship, including struggles with poverty, limited educational opportunities, and early life challenges that shaped his passion for humanitarian service and community development.
He highlighted the activities of the EVANSINO Humanitarian Foundation, noting that it has over time provided scholarships for students, paid school fees, sponsored medical surgeries, carried out healthcare outreach programmes, supported women and youth empowerment initiatives, and delivered boreholes and other humanitarian interventions across communities in the constituency.
Josiah emphasized that his ambition was not driven by personal interest but by a desire to deliver accountable and compassionate leadership that prioritizes the needs of the people. He pledged to focus on expanding opportunities for young people, strengthening support systems for women, improving care for the elderly, and driving inclusive community development across Obingwa, Osisioma, and Ugwunagbo.
The Obingwa Local Government Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Tony Ngwakwe, in his remarks, described Josiah as a grassroots-oriented individual whose humanitarian interventions have already impacted farmers, women, children, and youths across the area. He expressed confidence that if given the party’s ticket, Josiah would deliver meaningful representation at the National Assembly.
The Mayor of Obingwa LGA, Hon. Maxwell Nwadike, also commended Josiah’s record of community service, describing him as a young man who has consistently impacted lives and would perform effectively if entrusted with public office.
In a separate engagement, the Abia State Labour Party Chairman, Hon. Peter Azubuike, described Josiah’s entry into politics as a positive development, noting that his declaration marks a significant step into active political participation. He expressed optimism about his prospects and wished him success in his political journey.
The event was attended by a wide range of dignitaries, including the Deputy Mayor of Obingwa LGA, the Secretary to the Local Government, political support groups such as Abia Arise, Chioma Abia, and the New Abia Movement, as well as traditional leaders, youth organisations, and community-based associations, including the Old Obioma Ngwa Concerned Stakeholders.
The large and diverse attendance underscored growing political interest in the constituency and set the stage for what is expected to be a competitive race ahead of the next general elections.
