Eric Opah Unveils Bold Vision to Reposition Aba as Nigeria’s Industrial Powerhouse
The governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eric Opah, has stated that he intends to rebrand Aba as the commercial hub of the state, and this needs to be communicated to the world differently.
Speaking to journalists at the APC stakeholders meeting in Umuahia on Thursday, Chief Opah emphasised that developing Aba equates to developing other parts of the state, and he explained that branding Aba means it becomes a focal point where everyone in Nigeria will focus on when it comes to trade and industrialization.
Citing Cross River State, which was globally recognised through its tourism sector with the Calabar Carnival, Chief Opah said he will leverage the extensive trading strategies to promote exhibitions, which will increase the state’s internally generated revenue.
“If Aba is branded, it will be used to develop other parts of the state. In that case, you do not need to travel to Aba or Umuahia for work, but there should be industries and factories in those areas to work.”
Chief Opah stated that the state was in a critical situation and mentioned that he is contesting for the number one position out of conviction and the desire to contribute his quota to the development of the state.
He explained that his main focus is branding Abia State by making Aba the focal point and dismissed reports that he worked for the incumbent government, stating that no government in the state since 1999 has ever awarded any contract to him.
He urged the people to dismiss such reports, emphasising that he is contesting on his own volition and conviction for the betterment of the state.
