Aguocha Denies Palliative Rice Diversion Allegation, Threatens Legal Action Over Viral Video
The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has denied allegations that he diverted and sold two truckloads of rice provided by the Federal Government for distribution to his constituents, describing the claims as false and politically motivated.
Aguocha, in a statement dated October 21, 2026, said the allegations were contained in a viral video featuring one Charles Ogbonna, which began circulating on social media on October 20.
The lawmaker maintained that neither he nor anyone acting on his instructions diverted or sold any federal food palliatives allocated to his constituency.
According to him, all food relief items allocated to the constituency were distributed to beneficiaries across Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South through what he described as transparent and verifiable community-based channels.
He subsequently threatened legal action against Charles Ogbonna, Ikechukwu Kelvin Okorie, popularly known as Ikukufied, and other individuals he accused of participating in the alleged campaign to damage his reputation.
Aguocha alleged that the accusations were part of a coordinated campaign intended to undermine his political standing and distract his constituents from his legislative activities.
He attributed the alleged campaign to a deterioration in his relationship with Ogbonna, claiming that he had previously cautioned him against making what he described as unfounded allegations against Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
The lawmaker also alleged that individuals opposed to his anticipated re-election in 2027 were exploiting the controversy to discredit him.
He cited his victory in the 2023 general election, which he said was secured with a margin of more than 20,000 votes, expressing confidence in his chances of securing another mandate.
Aguocha further linked the controversy to ongoing legal proceedings involving former Abia State Governor, Senator Theodore Orji, and his son, Chinedum Orji.
He alleged that the timing of the video was intended to divert public attention from court proceedings scheduled for October 21 in Umuahia. However, the claims concerning the motives of those involved and the connection between the video and the court proceedings were not independently verified.
The lawmaker said his legal team was compiling digital evidence, recorded transmissions, bank records and publication trails in preparation for possible legal proceedings against those he accused of spreading the allegations
.
He cited the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, as amended in 2024, alongside relevant provisions of Nigerian criminal law, arguing that the dissemination of knowingly false allegations through electronic platforms could attract legal consequences.
Aguocha also accused those behind the alleged campaign of attempting to provoke public anger and hostility against him by suggesting that food assistance intended for economically vulnerable constituents had been diverted.
He warned that such allegations, if false, could heighten tensions and undermine public confidence in the distribution of government relief materials.
The lawmaker said he intended to pursue the matter through appropriate legal and judicial channels, insisting that those responsible should be held accountable if the allegations of unlawful conduct were established.
Addressing residents of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South, Aguocha urged his constituents to remain calm and exercise caution in their assessment of the viral claims.
He maintained that the allegations would not distract him from his commitment to constituency development, transparency and accountability.
The federal lawmaker also expressed confidence in his political future ahead of the 2027 general election, declaring his intention to continue representing the constituency.
He reiterated that his commitment to serving the people remained firm despite what he described as attempts to damage his reputation through sponsored propaganda.

2027: SDP’s Adewole Adebayo Unveils ‘Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity’ Manifesto, Challenges Tinubu
Two days ago the All Progressive Congress inaugurated its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 General Elections, and shamelessly the Absentee President who has spent more than 20% of his near 3 years and half in power overseas, told the gathering and indeed Nigerians that he will not be on the campaign train, that he will be dedicating his time to governance while the Campaign Council criss-crosses the Country on his behalf. One thing the President and his Party failed to admit is the fact that he is too old, too tired, too feeble and too weak for the rigors of campaign.
Where in the world does a candidate sublet or outsource the democratic demands to reach out directly to the electorate? Why is the APC so arrogant, and why do they treat Nigeria like a conquered Republic, and Nigerians like conquered people? Why is the present Political class soulless and lacking in scruples that they see nothing wrong in an Absentee President admitting by jove that he is too weak, too tired and too frail to campaign? The question therefore is, is the President really strong enough to GOVERN?
To the APC Governors and Chieftains, and to the many gladiators who see nothing wrong with seeking to hand Nigeria to a weak and feeble President for another 4 years, we caution you to be mindful of the score of posterity knowing that Power is transient. We advise you to do a quick rethink and put Nigeria First. We ask you to get off your present danse macabre and put the interest of the nation over and above your egocentric interests knowing that another 4 years of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidency signposts greater hunger, poverty and insecurity. Nigeria demands more from you all than the present predilection to crash individualism and wanton selfishness.
Nigeria is not lacking in quality candidates and viable alternatives. Nigeria deserves more than the present shenanigans. Our Children and posterity crave a nation that works. Our Fathers and Mothers want a Leader they can trust, and a President they will be proud of. The choice we present to Nigeria and Nigerians is a candidate young and vibrant, urbane and versatile, accomplished but approachable and humble, patriotic and humane, and he is the candidate with the BLUEPRINT OF A NEW NIGERIA.
The choice of who should be President in 2027 Countrymen and Women is not between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and others. It is and should be between President Bola Tinubu and the most prepared candidate. We urge Nigerians to look at the candidates carefully, to interrogate the candidates and to choose the candidate with the best plan for the nation we love.
Understanding the urgency of now, and conscious of the fact that our nation needs an urgent reset, we present to you the man with the RoadMAP to a Nigeria that works for all. We present to you titbits from the Social Democratic Manifesto that signposts National Redemption.
Countrymen and Women, our choice for President should be the one who draws strength from Chapter 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which provides the Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy, it should be someone whose capacity and competency is top-notch, and one who believes in our common humanity. We therefore present to you Citizen Adewole Adebayo, the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party.
The Social Democratic Manifesto of candidate Adewole Adebayo captioned FAREWELL TO POVERTY AND INSECURITY is well researched, workable, progressive, proactive and fit for the reset of our Dear Country, Nigeria.

… And the hows are boldly spelt out in the Manifesto.
He has a FOUR YEAR DELIVERY FRAMEWORK ditto…
First 100 Days, here he intends to establish The Presidential Delivery And Performance Office; Issue Chapter II compliance and results directives to Ministries, Departments And Agencies; complete security, power, food, health, education and infrastructure baseline audits; identify priority quick-win projects, launch procurement and expenditure transparency measures; convene Federal-State delivery compacts, and publish the first Presidential Delivery Dashboard. He intends to start well, and to GOVERN well, and that’s why he is the most competent choice for National Redemption.
Year One: Stabilise And Mobilise. To concentrate on restoring security, stabilising essential services, accelerating domestic refining and energy logistics, expanding agricultural production, initiating power and transport quick-wins, mobilizing youth skills and employment programmes, etc.
Years Two And Three: Build And Scale. Scale industrial clusters, strategic infrastructure, distribute power, irrigation, storage and processing, pharmaceutical and technology, manufacturing, rail and urban transport partnerships, broadband, housing and water projects. Expand successful State partnership nationally and deepen export, investment and technology diplomacy.
Year Four. Consolidate and Institutionalise. Complete priority projects, lock successful programmes into durable institutions and financing arrangements, publish audited outcome reports, correct underperforming programmes, transfer mature delivery systems to permanent public institutions and present Nigerians with a Transparent end-of-term scorecard.
We have a candidate who understands the problem with Nigeria and is committed to fixing our Dear Country, therefore the choice is no other than Citizen Adewole Adebayo.
The Governance Philosophy of Citizen Adewole Adebayo Presidency, is broken into sections…
1. Constitutional Foundation and Governing Philosophy.
2. Social Democracy and the Basic Needs Approach.
3. Cooperative Federalism and Subsidiarity.

5. Blueprint Commitments Giving Effect to Chapter II.
