Incursion of Bandits Into Igboland: Stand Up And Defend Your Families – Hon Aguocha Charges Constituents

The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon Obi Aguocha has charged Ndigbo to rise up and defend their families and homestead.

This is coming after a woman and her Tricycle rider were kidnapped at Umuahia Alaocha in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia state.

It took the bravery of the local vigilante of the community, the youths of the community and the collaboration of the neighbouring villages to rescue the victims same night they were taken.

Hon Aguocha insisted that it is time for self defense against the incursion of the herdsmen stating that what is happening in Oyo State will be a child’s play if Ndigbo continues to wait for Government protection.

In a related development, Hon. Aguocha condemned the Federal Government’s decision to amend its motion in the ongoing case against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, now seeking the imposition of a death sentence rather than the life imprisonment previously pursued. He described this cross‑appeal as a grave miscarriage of justice, particularly at a time when the nation ought to be embracing reconciliation and healing.

According to him, the pursuit of capital punishment in this matter represents an escalation that undermines prospects for peace and dialogue. Such a request, he argued, must be unequivocally rejected and condemned, as it signals a punitive approach rather than a restorative one. Hon. Aguocha urged traditional leaders of Ikwuano/Umuahia to stand firmly behind their son, stressing that justice must not be perverted into vengeance. “If Nnamdi Kanu must die, let it be by natural cause, not through the machinery of state,” he concluded.
