Today March 14, 2026, marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s technological advancement as the Institute of Policy Management Development (IPMD), Nigeria, honours Engr. Dr. Onyema Edward, Ikemba Aro, a visionary renewable energy and ICT expert, with the prestigious title of Fellow of the Institute at Damsgrate hotels Umuahia.
“Hailing from Amangwu town in the prestigious Arochukwu Kingdom of Abia State, Dr. Edward is being recognized for his profound contributions to engineering and his tireless advocacy for the establishment of a National Intelligent Systems Center (NISC) aimed at accelerating emerging technologies in Nigeria, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotic systems, wearable technology, the Internet of Things (IoT), and data analytics.”

Dr. Edward’s career is a testament to dedication and pioneering spirit:
* ICT Pioneer: He engineered and spearheaded the policy document for the institutionalized, robust ICT center development at the Federal Polytechnic Ngodo Isuochi, Abia State.
* ICT/Telecom Expertise: He previously served as an ICT and Telecommunications Officer with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Academy and Megatek Integrated Investment Limited, Lagos .
* Industry Experience: A well-rounded professional, he holds extensive experience from the defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), Abakaliki, and the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Eastern Port, Port Harcourt.
* Academic Excellence: He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and Master of Engineering in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and many other qualifications.
During his recent milestone achievements, Dr. Edward has actively advocated for the Nigerian government to take proactive steps in adopting AI , Robotics technology and renewable energy to solve localized challenges, aiming to transition Nigeria from a consumer nation to a technology producer.
